aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a wonderful world of oils and scent. An aromatherapy massage combination of essential oils with their vast array of properties and smells and carrier oils which enrich skin and leave you feeling silky smooth and well cared for.

A typical aromatherapy massage is rhythmic and hypnotic, deeply relaxing and a great opportunity to switch off and rejuvenate.

Oils are selected according to what you feel in need of, what you like and what works in a blend. For example, on a dreary winter morning a blend of ginger, cinnamon and black pepper would be a good, warming pick-me-up, while a massage in the evening after a rough day might call for somethimg much more de-stressing and relaxing, like marjoram, lavender and orange.

When you come we will discuss your needs, preferences and decide an appropriate treatment together. You may want to combine your aromatherapy massage with some deeper remedial work, see my aroma-sports fusion scale for an idea of this or watch the video below.

Essential oils use naturally occuring plant properties and are mixed with a carrier-oil base which also benefits the skin. The oils work on a physical and emotional level, entering your body through the skin during the massage and through olfactory receptors - your sense of smell - to work on emotional parts of your brain to enhance well being.

An aromatherapy massage is soothing, warming and relaxing, helping you drift off and fully unwind. The essential oils used in aromatherapy are pure and true to their natural origins - the active chemical components of the plants are not extracted. In the same vein, an aromatherapy treatment is an all-encompassing experience, with smells, touch, oils, relaxation and calm creating a holistic synergy.

The effect on muscles is also profound; all massage can benefit muscular aches and pains, more pressure can be applied as you prefer, but equally the touch can be light.

how does aromatherapy work?

Even when cash is tight, I like to treat myself to a massage with Jennie, as it leaves me feeling wonderful for days afterwards.
